Cocobolo is related to rosewood. Its origins lie in South America.

Grain and color of the heartwood are particularly beautiful . Due to its oil content the wood is durable and insensitive to humidity.

Be carefull when working with this wood. Cocobolo dust is known to cause allergies. For the same reason it is not recommended to use it for mouth-blown instruments like flutes, etc.
